Field Notes

Genesys Cloud Release Notes — August 3, 2026

Ten items this week. One of them is a removal with four weeks of runway, which is a short window by Genesys standards. Start there.

TL;DR

  • AI Guides version 1 is removed August 31, 2026. Migrate to Guides V2 or an Agentic Virtual Agent before then or the feature stops.
  • The permissions editor gets a flattened view, working Select All controls, and CSV export.
  • SMS opt-out detection expands from single keywords to multi-language phrase matching, pushed to August 12.
  • Screen recording playback gains speed control, zoom, and pan.

Deprecations First

Genesys removes AI Guides version 1 on August 31, 2026. Orgs still running Guides V1 after that date lose the feature. The migration targets are Guides V2 or Agentic Virtual Agent.

Four weeks is tight for anything that touches live customer conversations. If you have Guides V1 in production, inventory what you have this week, not next. Guides V2 is not a drop-in rename, and Agentic Virtual Agent is a different design exercise entirely. Either path needs test time you don't get back.

Account Management

Permissions editor rebuild

The hierarchical permissions tree is gone, replaced by a flattened view with domain headers, Select All controls at both the domain and entity level, and a button that exports the selected permissions to CSV.

Anybody who has built a custom role in Genesys Cloud knows why this matters. The old tree made you expand a dozen nodes to answer a simple question about what a role could do, and Select All behaved inconsistently depending on where you clicked it. The CSV export is the part I'd use most, because it turns "what does this role actually grant" into something you can diff and hand to an auditor.

Pair with Genesys Care button pulled

The Pair with Genesys Care button is temporarily gone from the Authorized Organizations page in commercial regions while Genesys reworks the pairing flow. Existing pairings still work, the support process is unchanged, and FedRAMP regions keep the button. Nothing to do here beyond not filing a ticket about a missing button.

Customer Engagement

Better SMS opt-out detection

Inbound SMS gets evaluated against predefined opt-out phrases in several languages, not just single keywords, and matches update the suppression tables automatically. The feature slipped to August 12, and it's unavailable in the Canada Central region and FedRAMP.

This is a compliance improvement dressed up as a convenience feature. Customers do not type STOP. They type "stop texting me" or "please remove me from this list," and every one of those that your keyword matcher missed was a message you kept sending to someone who told you to quit. Take it.

The flip side: your suppression list is about to grow on its own. If you report on deliverable contacts or campaign reachability, expect a step change in the numbers and know why before someone asks.

Social listening context

Google Business Profile ratings and engagement source now appear across social listening posts, filters, transcripts, recordings, and messaging, and ratings can drive social escalation rules. Follower count and verified status show up in the same places and can also be used as escalation criteria.

Routing by follower count is a decision you should make deliberately rather than because the field exists. Prioritizing a verified account with a large following is defensible for brand risk. It's also a policy statement about whose complaints get answered first, so put it in writing before you build the rule.

Analytics and Workforce Engagement

The Journey Management date range picker now takes a time as well as a date and renders the selection in the user's local time zone. If you have ever tried to line up a journey view with an incident window, you know why a date-only picker was a problem.

The Agent Copilot Performance dashboard picks up filtering by Copilot or by queue, plus answer generation metrics and After Call Work summary generation time. That one has moved twice on the calendar, postponed to August 6 and now showing a reenable date of August 24, so don't build a report against it yet.

Workforce management administrators can set background and font colors on activity codes. Cosmetic, and useful anyway: a schedule where training is one color and overtime is another gets read correctly at a glance.

Screen recording playback gains variable speed, zoom into a region, and pan while zoomed. Evaluators reviewing screen recordings have been squinting at full-desktop captures for years. This is overdue.

What this means for your contact center

The Guides V1 removal is the whole story this week. Everything else can wait until you know whether that deadline touches you. Search your AI Studio configuration for Guides V1 artifacts today, decide on V2 or Agentic Virtual Agent by the end of the week, and leave yourself at least ten working days for testing before August 31.

The permissions rebuild and the SMS opt-out change both reduce risk rather than add capability, which is the kind of release I like. Neither needs a project. The opt-out improvement arrives on its own, so the only work is understanding what it does to your campaign metrics.

What to check

  • Inventory every AI Guides V1 implementation and pick its migration target this week.
  • Open a custom role in the new permissions view and export it to CSV to confirm the grants match what you think they are.
  • Warn your outbound reporting owner that SMS suppression counts will rise once phrase matching turns on August 12.
  • Decide whether follower count and verified status belong in your social escalation rules before enabling them.
  • Assign colors to your workforce management activity codes while you're in there.
