Sixteen items this week, two of them deprecations, and one of those puts a hardware end-of-life date on your calendar. The rest is mostly administrative plumbing. That's not a complaint. Plumbing is where the time goes.
TL;DR
- BYOC Premises on Genesys-supplied hardware goes end of life June 1, 2027. Existing deployments become inoperative that day, not merely unsupported.
- ACD skills can now be assigned to divisions, so skill visibility follows your org structure instead of ignoring it.
- You can set which WebRTC client wins when a user has several Genesys applications open at once.
- External Contacts and Journey Management both picked up real CSV exports with filtering.
Account Management and Access
Division-scoped ACD skills
Administrators can assign ACD skills to divisions. Users only see and manage the skills belonging to divisions they have access to.
This should have shipped years ago. If you run a multi-brand or multi-business-unit org, your skills list has been one shared namespace where anybody holding skill admin rights could rename or delete another unit's entries. The fix is boring and correct.
Configurable inactivity timeout under HIPAA
Orgs with the HIPAA setting enabled can now lengthen or shorten the inactivity timeout. Genesys is explicit that you own the compliance consequences of whatever you pick.
Fair enough. But get sign-off in writing from whoever owns your HIPAA posture before you extend it, because "an admin changed it" is a bad answer during an audit.
Login hint in OAuth authorization URLs
Client applications can pass the org name and login email as parameters in the Genesys Cloud authorization URL, so the login page arrives pre-filled and native logins only need a password. Small win, worth taking if you embed Genesys inside another application and you're tired of users landing in the wrong org.
Customer Engagement and Open Platform
More countries for alphanumeric sender IDs
Alphanumeric sender IDs are now provisionable for outbound SMS in Italy and Japan, and protected alphanumeric IDs are supported in the UK and France. If you message into those markets, check whether you can retire a long code.
WebRTC client priority
You can configure which WebRTC client takes priority when a user is signed into multiple Genesys Cloud applications, a CRM embedded client and a desktop app for example. It cuts duplicate alerting and makes session control predictable. This needs Edge version 38870 or greater, so confirm your edge version before promising anyone the feature.
Salesforce Voice conferencing
CX Cloud with Salesforce Voice gains private consult before adding a party to a multiparty call, conference-add from any agent on the call rather than only the originator, and participation by users who aren't on Salesforce Voice at all. That last piece is the useful one. Cross-team conferences stop being gated by who holds which license.
Google Cloud Run Functions v2 in Data Actions
Data Actions can invoke authenticated Cloud Run Functions v2 with Google service account credentials. Existing Cloud Functions v1 integrations keep working. If you built on v1, start planning that move on your own schedule instead of Google's.
Exports worth having
External Contacts export now covers custom fields, multiple external identifiers and sources, and lifecycle timestamps, with separate CSV files for organizations, relationships, and notes. You can filter by external source, creation and modification timestamps, division, and schema. Journey Management adds a schema-stable CSV export of calculated Journey View data for Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
Both unblock the same thing: getting data out without writing an API client. If you maintain a script that pages through contacts for migrations or cleanup, you can probably delete it.
Copilot, Summaries, and WFM
Copilot AI agents are now configurable from AI Studio. You can enable or disable individual AI agents, assign Cloud Copilot at the org level, and read an audit log of configuration changes.
Virtual agent interaction summaries became customizable too: detail level, formatting, how agents and customers get referred to, and how PII is handled. Those settings apply across Agent Copilot, Virtual Agent, and Supervisor Copilot. Look at the PII option first if legal has ever asked what ends up inside a summary.
On the workforce management side, decision metric performance and tiebreak values now import and export as CSV rather than requiring REST calls, and Opportunities and Enrollments can be filtered by time as well as date.
Deprecations
BYOC Premises with the Genesys Hardware Solution reaches end of life June 1, 2027. After that date existing deployments become inoperative and new ones aren't supported. Genesys points to BYOC Cloud, Genesys Cloud Voice, or BYOC Premises on customer hardware, with the Hybrid Media Solution offered as a transition path.
GPE Tracking SDK v1 is deprecated now, along with the Predictive Engagement Tracking Settings that drove it. Migrate to Messenger with digital user tracking or you lose event tracking, real-time journeys, and web messaging offers.
What this means for your contact center
The BYOC hardware end of life is the only item here carrying a hard deadline, and eleven months sounds like plenty until you price replacement telephony and book a cutover window with your carrier. Start that conversation this quarter. "Inoperative" is doing a lot of work in that notice.
Everything else is opt-in. I'd take the division-scoped skills change first if you're a multi-division org, because it closes an access-control gap rather than adding a feature you then have to sell internally.
What to check
- Identify any BYOC Premises sites running Genesys-supplied hardware and choose a target architecture before year end.
- Audit your ACD skills list and assign skills to divisions so visibility matches your access model.
- Confirm your Edge version is 38870 or greater before enabling WebRTC client priority.
- Review the new virtual agent summary settings, starting with PII handling.
- Search your web properties for the legacy GPE tracking snippet and replace it with Messenger digital user tracking.
